Description of Location

The JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District is located along the historic waterfront at 400 West River Street in Savannah, Georgia, in the heart of the city’s famed riverfront district. The hotel occupies a prime position on the banks of the Savannah River, offering sweeping views of the water, the bustling port, and the cobblestone streets that define downtown Savannah. Set within the Plant Riverside District, a vibrant mixed-use development that transformed a century-old power plant into an upscale entertainment destination, the hotel blends industrial heritage with modern luxury.

Surrounded by the lively energy of the riverwalk, guests are just steps away from some of Savannah’s best restaurants, boutiques, art galleries, and live-music venues. The hotel’s setting allows visitors to experience both the city’s storied past and its contemporary cultural pulse, with easy access to historic squares, the city market, and Forsyth Park. Its central location makes it ideal for exploring Savannah on foot, while its waterfront ambiance offers a serene contrast to the lively nightlife nearby.

Staying at the JW Marriott Savannah means being immersed in a destination that is as much about history as it is about modern indulgence — a place where industrial architecture, river views, and Southern charm come together in one of the city’s most dynamic neighborhoods.

The hotel spans three distinct buildings—Power Plant, Three Muses, and Atlantic—each offering its own design flair. The Power Plant building retains its industrial roots with exposed brick, steel detailing and soaring ceilings fused with refined finishes; the Three Muses building offers a more elegant and artistic atmosphere, with polished marble and whimsical décor; while the Atlantic building leans into a nautical, contemporary feel with sweeping views and modern design.

Guests have access to 419 guestrooms and suites, which vary by building and style. In the Power Plant section you’ll find rooms that honour the building’s past while offering sleek, modern comfort. In Three Muses the rooms lean romantic and expressive; in Atlantic the vantage points of the river and a rooftop pool deck elevate the experience.

Beyond rooms, the property offers a range of upscale amenities: multiple full-service restaurants and bars (including a modern chophouse built within the historic smokestack), rooftop lounges, a rooftop pool with river views, a spa, fitness centres, meeting and event space, and access to the entertainment and dining options of the surrounding district.

The design and experience are focused on offering a sense of place and history—visitors will encounter reclaimed brick and architectural detailing that speak to the building’s industrial heritage, while enjoying the luxury of a top-tier hotel brand and a lively setting on the riverfront. In recognition of its historic transformation, the hotel was inducted into the Historic Hotels of America program.

In short: staying here means experiencing more than just a place to sleep—you’re immersed in a property that is itself a destination, where design, history, location and hospitality converge.
